CONTEXT   This is the 50th anniversary of IIT system and big celebrations are being planned both in India and in US. The institutes and especially its alumni have come a long way in the last 50 years. As part of this process of growth, there is an increasing realization of the value of networks similar to the ones enjoyed by the best Ivy League schools in the US. These networks present new sources for raising funds and corporate sponsorships, and increase placement and research opportunities. IITB Heritage Fund has already shown the power of the institute-alumni collaboration (see more on www.iitbombay.org) by creating a vibrant organization.   CHARTER IITDEF will focus on the following activities: Provide a forum for the alumni of IIT Delhi to interact with each other, especially in US, for their mutual benefit, both socially and professionally. Create a tax advantageous vehicle to provide monetary support to IIT Delhi. Coordinate with IIT Delhi to develop programs which resonate with IIT Delhi alumni and ensure the most efficient use of funds contributed. An essential prerequisite is to setup an accurate alumni directory. While the website will help, we know it is going to take a lot of work on behalf of a lot of dedicated folks, to accomplish this task. We would like volunteers from various batches/hostels to help build the network the old fashioned way- one member at a time! We are in the process of setting up various chapters and identifying volunteers to drive this effort.
