for the future? Preparing for the new job market? Ever wondered
if you could discuss planning, pros/cons and outcomes of such transitions
from people who have done it? Well, here is your chance.
As IIT graduates, we constantly evaluate opportunities and prepare
ourselves for new challenges. As the first in the series of IITD
fireside chats, we bring you face to face with two veterans who
have successfully transitioned through careers and industries. Discuss
your views and questions with them over an informal lunch. To further
the informal nature and networking, the group size will be limited
to 15 attendees. Here is a brief bio of the two discussion leaders,
who are also your fellow IITD alums,
Ravi Oswal

Raychem Corp. 1980 to 1999 - Raychem (now Tyco) was Fortune
1000 high performance materials co. - Various positions in product
development, manufacturing, quality assurance, product management,
supply chain management, corporate IT - notable last two positions
– Director of worldwide operations, Corporate Director of
Supply Chain Systems implementing SAP worldwide
Zoho Corp. 1999 to 2001 - A dot com B2B startup marketplace
for hospitality - VP of Content and Customer Operations
Telespree. since April 2001 - VP of Engineering and Operations.
Telespree is a SF based startup that provides customer self-service
software for automating customer acquisition and device activation,
for wireless carriers.
Raj Kumar
Design -> Teaching -> Computing Architecture
(B.Tech, Ph.D, Electrical Engineering, IITD)
Raj completed his post doctoral research at University of Waterloo,
Ontario, Canada. Over the years, he has been on the faculty at IITD
and Santa Clara University. He has also worked in high-tech at several
leading companies (HP, National, Zilog). Currently he is an Architecture
Manager at HP Labs, working on grid computing middleware.
His prior work related to computer systems architecture, processor
architecture, and VLSI engineering. He has published extensively,
has a dozen patents granted, and several more pending.
