IITDEF and IIT Delhi  
One of the main focus areas of IITDEF is to contribute to the continued tryst of excellence at IIT Delhi. IITDEF is set up as a public charity in New York state and has tax exempt status under section 501©3 of IRS. This allows donors to get tax benefits on contributions to IITDEF. However, we have more to contribute than funds alone. In fact we encourage alumni to make the most valuable gift of all - of their time and professional expertise. This section will highlight programs that IITDEF sponsors in collaboration with IIT Delhi.  
Loan scholarships program  
IIT Delhi’s Alumni-sponsored Loan Scholarship program, launched in February last year, makes it more affordable for students to take educational loans from banks. Visiting Faculty program  
IIT Delhi (IITD) is continuing to build on its reputation as a premier academic and research institution. IITD is looking for faculty members from various universities/ research institutions to spend time at IITD as a visiting faculty member. IIT Delhi Excellence Foundation is acting as the facilitating body between the IITD authorities in Delhi and the visiting faculty member prior to his/ her actually spending time in Delhi. ... read more

Recent Contributions  
Alumnus Ash Gupta (BTech 1974, Mech.), Executive Vice President & Chief Risk Officer, American Express Company, New York, has donated USD 75,000 (Rs 33 lakhs) as apart of an endowment to set up a Chair Professorship in the area of Decision Science. The full endowment of USD 150,000 will enable the faculty occupying the Chair receive an annual grant of Rs 4 lakhs to conduct teaching, research and development in the area of Decision Science.  
Pearl Alumni (Batches 1965 to 1969) have donated an endowment of Rs 2.0 lakhs for starting two Pearl Awards for undergraduate students every year. The Awards will be used to help two 3rd and 4th year students by giving them financial assistance of Rs 6000/- each, every year, for attending a conference, design competition or intercollege academic festival etc.  
Alumnus Ravi Uppal (BTech 1973, Mech), Vice Chairman and Managing Director ABB India as well as President ABB South Asia Pacific Region, has helped in the stablishment of "ABB Professorial Chair" at IIT Delhi in the area of Power & Automation, through an endowment of Rs 50 lakhs from ABB. The endowment will enable the faculty occupying the Chair to receive an annual grant of Rs. 3 lakhs for teaching and research in the area of Power and Automation. In addition, ABB Scholarships have been started in the Department of Electrical Engineering and new hi-tech laboratory equipment is also being donated by ABB.  
Alumnus Anurag Dixit (B. Tech 1994, Computer Sc & Engg.), co-founder PartyGaming, has signed an MoU with IITD to donate an endowment of USD 500,000 (Rs 2.3 crores) for the establishment of "Faculty Research Travel Awards". The endowment will enable 15 to 20 faculty members visit universities/centers of excellence and share research findings, every year, as an extension of their participation in national and international conferences.
